This calculator determines the amoxicillin dose for treating bacterial infections, using a concentration of 125 mg / 5 mL (25 mg/mL), based on the patient’s weight, infection severity, and dosing frequency:
Dose in mg and Volume in mL:
Mild to Moderate Infection (25–50 mg/kg/day): Divide total daily dose by 2 (BID) or 3 (TID)
Severe Infection (80–90 mg/kg/day): Divide total daily dose by 2 (BID) or 3 (TID)
Volume Calculation:
Volume (mL) = Dose (mg) ÷ 25 mg/mL
Where:
For adults (weight ≥ 40 kg), use 250–1000 mg PO TID. Administer for 7–10 days, or as directed. ⚠️ Always consult a healthcare provider.
Enter the patient’s weight, select the infection severity (mild/moderate or severe), and choose the dosing frequency (BID or TID). The calculator provides the dose range in mL and mg per dose for pediatric patients (> 1 month) or adults.
Example: Weight 100 kg, Mild to Moderate Infection, TID:
Pediatric > 1 month: Min Dose: 33.3 mL (833 mg) PO TID Max Dose: 53.3 mL (1333 mg) PO TID Adults: Usual dose is 250 to 1000 mg PO TID ⚠️ This tool is for information purposes only...
Consult a healthcare provider before administering.
Amoxicillin treats bacterial infections such as ear infections, sinusitis, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections.
Dosing is BID or TID, based on severity, for 7–10 days or as prescribed.
Consult a doctor, as dosing for infants under 1 month may differ (e.g., caution or lower doses).
Select 'lb,' and the calculator converts to kg automatically.
Up to 4,000 mg/day, but typically 250–1000 mg PO TID.
