This calculator determines the amoxicillin/clavulanate dose for treating bacterial infections, using a concentration of Amoxicillin 125 mg / 5 mL (25 mg/mL) and Clavulanate 31.25 mg / 5 mL (6.25 mg/mL), based on the patient’s weight and Amoxicillin dose:
Dose in mg and Volume in mL (based on Amoxicillin component):
Pediatric (≥ 3 months): 20 mg/kg/day or 40 mg/kg/day of Amoxicillin, given TID (every 8 hours)
Clavulanate dose is fixed at 1/4 of Amoxicillin dose (125 mg Amoxicillin : 31.25 mg Clavulanate ratio)
Volume Calculation:
Volume (mL) = Amoxicillin Dose (mg) ÷ 25 mg/mL
Where:
For adults (weight ≥ 40 kg), use 1 tablet (500 mg Amoxicillin / 125 mg Clavulanate) every 8 hours. Administer for 7–10 days, or as directed. ⚠️ Always consult a healthcare provider.
Enter the patient’s weight, select the Amoxicillin dose (20 mg/kg/day or 40 mg/kg/day TID). The calculator provides the dose in mL and mg (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate) per dose for pediatric patients (≥ 3 months) or adults.
Example: Weight 20 kg, Amoxicillin 20 mg/kg/day TID:
Pediatric ≥ 3 months: 5.3 mL (133 mg Amoxicillin / 33.3 mg Clavulanate) PO every 8 hours Adult Dose: 1 tablet (Amoxicillin/Clavulanate 500 mg/125 mg) every 8 hours ⚠️ This tool is for information purposes only...
Consult a healthcare provider before administering.
Amoxicillin/clavulanate treats bacterial infections, including sinusitis, pneumonia, and skin infections, especially those resistant to amoxicillin alone.
Pediatric: Every 8 hours (TID). Adults: Every 8 hours, 1 tablet (500 mg/125 mg).
Consult a doctor, as dosing for infants under 3 months may differ (e.g., caution or lower doses).
Select 'lb,' and the calculator converts to kg automatically.
1 tablet (Amoxicillin 500 mg / Clavulanate 125 mg) every 8 hours.
