This calculator determines the Docusate Sodium dose for treating constipation, using a concentration of Docusate Sodium 10 mg / mL (drops), based on the patient’s age group:
Dose in mL and mg (based on Docusate Sodium component):
Age: 6 months to 2 years: 1 ml (10 mg) to 4 ml (40 mg) po once daily or divided BID
Age: 3 to 5 years: 2 ml (20 mg) to 6 ml (60 mg) po once daily or divided BID
Age: 6 to 12 years: 4 ml (40 mg) to 15 ml (150 mg) po once daily or divided BID
Adults: Usual dose is 100 to 200 mg po BID

Once daily or twice daily (BID): Children 6 months to 2 years: 1–4 ml (10–40 mg), Children 3 to 5 years: 2–6 ml (20–60 mg), Children 6 to 12 years: 4–15 ml (40–150 mg), Adults: 100–200 mg.
Consult a doctor, as Docusate Sodium is not typically recommended for children under 6 months without medical supervision.
